Bactrocera angusticostata is a species of fruit fly within the family Tephritidae. Observations of museum specimens indicate that, like many members of the genus Bactrocera, it possesses a distinct body shape typical of dacine fruit flies, characterized by a relatively slender abdomen and a robust thorax. The wings are generally hyaline (clear) with specific dark markings, particularly along the costal margin, which is consistent with the species' name.[1]
Bactrocera angusticostata was described by R.A.I. Drew in 1989. It is recognized as an accepted species within the genus Bactrocera.[2] The species was formally published in the Memoirs of the Queensland Museum as part of a comprehensive study on the tropical fruit flies of the Australasian and Oceanian regions.
