This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Bactrocera amplexiseta is a species of fruit fly within the family Tephritidae. Observations of museum specimens indicate that, like other members of the genus Bactrocera, it exhibits the characteristic body form of dacine fruit flies, including a slender, often patterned abdomen and distinct wing venation patterns typical of the group.[1]
Bactrocera amplexiseta was originally described as Strumeta amplexiseta by May in 1962.[2] The species is recognized within the genus Bactrocera, a group of significant agricultural importance.[3]
Research into the phylogenomics of Tephritidae has utilized advanced methods such as HiMAP (Highly Multiplexed Amplicon-based Phylogenomics) to resolve relationships within the genus Bactrocera. These molecular approaches, which target conserved single-copy orthologous exons, have been instrumental in clarifying the phylogenetic placement of various Bactrocera species.[4]
