This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Bactrocera alyxiae is a species of fruit fly within the family Tephritidae. Observations of specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal characteristic features of the genus, including a robust body form typical of many dacine fruit flies. The specimens exhibit a patterned thorax and abdomen, with distinct coloration often observed in this group. The wings are generally hyaline, consistent with the morphology of many Bactrocera species.[1]
Bactrocera alyxiae was originally described by A.W.S. May in 1953 as Strumeta alyxiae.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Bactrocera.
