This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Bactrocera abscondita is a species of fruit fly within the family Tephritidae. As with many members of the genus Bactrocera, individuals exhibit the characteristic body form of tephritid flies, including a distinctively patterned thorax and abdomen. Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset indicate that the species possesses a robust, fly-like morphology typical of the genus, with clear, membranous wings and a well-defined head structure.[1] Due to the limitations of the available photographic material, finer diagnostic morphological traits such as specific setal patterns or precise wing venation details cannot be definitively resolved.
Bactrocera abscondita was originally described by Drew and Hancock in 1981 under the basionym Dacus absconditus.[2] The species is currently accepted as a valid member of the genus Bactrocera.
