Bactrocera abdopallescens exhibits the characteristic body plan of the family Tephritidae. Based on observations of preserved specimens, the species displays a distinct, elongated abdominal structure and typical dipteran wing venation patterns.[1]
Bactrocera abdopallescens (originally described as Dacus abdopallescens by Drew in 1971) is recognized as a member of the tribe Dacini.[2] Molecular phylogenetic studies have placed Bactrocera (Sinodacus) abdopallescens within the 'Zeugodacus' clade, which comprises 15 subgenera of Bactrocera and serves as the sister group to the genus Dacus.[3]
