Azana is a genus of fungus gnats within the family Mycetophilidae, specifically classified under the subfamily Sciophilinae.[2] Recent taxonomic work has expanded the known diversity of this genus, including the description of new species such as Azana demeijeri and Azana leekongchiani from Singapore.[2]
Based on observations of museum specimens, Azana species exhibit the characteristic delicate, long-legged morphology typical of many fungus gnats.[1] They possess slender bodies and elongated antennae.[1] The wings are generally clear or lightly patterned, and the thorax is often arched.[1]
