A photographed specimen attributed to Axinella badungensis (family Axinellidae) is present in the TreeOfLife-200M image set. The sponge is shown as an upright, rigid-looking form with a branching/column-like overall architecture, consistent with erect morphologies commonly observed in Axinellidae.
Axinella badungensis is treated as an accepted species in GBIF, with the scientific name attributed to Alvarez, de Voogd & van Soest (2016).[2]
