This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Based on observations of specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, members of the genus Avibrissosturmia exhibit typical tachinid fly morphology.[1] The body is robust and covered in numerous, prominent black bristles (macrochaetae), particularly on the thorax and abdomen, which is a characteristic feature of the family Tachinidae.[1] The wings are clear and membranous, with distinct venation patterns typical of the order Diptera.[1]
Avibrissosturmia is a genus of flies in the family Tachinidae.[2] The genus was described by the entomologist Charles Henry Tyler Townsend in 1927.
