Austrosynapha lamellata is a species of fungus gnat in the family Mycetophilidae. It was described by the entomologist Paul Freeman in 1951.[1]
This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[2]
Based on examination of preserved museum specimens, Austrosynapha lamellata exhibits the characteristic morphology of a fungus gnat.[2] The specimens display slender, elongated bodies typical of the family, with long, delicate legs and prominent, clear wings. The thorax is robust, supporting the wing attachment, while the abdomen is segmented and tapers towards the posterior end. Due to the nature of the preserved material, fine diagnostic characters such as specific setal patterns or wing venation details are not fully resolved in these images.[2]
