This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Austrosaropogon insulanus is a species of robber fly (family Asilidae). Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, individuals exhibit the characteristic robust, elongated body form typical of many asilids.[1] The thorax and abdomen are covered in fine, dense setae (hairs). The wings are generally clear or slightly tinted, and the legs are well-developed, adapted for predatory behavior.[1]
Austrosaropogon insulanus was described by G. Daniels in 1991 as part of his revision of the Australian genus Austrosaropogon.[2] As a member of the family Asilidae, it is a predatory fly.
