This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Austrolimnophila unica is a crane fly characterized by its slender, elongated body and long, thin legs. Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal a dark-pigmented thorax and abdomen.[1] The wings are transparent with a distinct venation pattern typical of the family Limoniidae.[1]
Austrolimnophila unica (Osten Sacken, 1869) is a Holarctic species of crane fly.[2] It was originally described as Limnophila unica.[3] The species is distinguished from related taxa, such as the recently described Austrolimnophila (Archilimnophila) barkalovi, by the structure of its gonapophyses, which in A. (A.) unica consist of two pairs of curved, dark-pigmented, elongated spines.
