This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Austrolimnophila pristina exhibits the characteristic slender, elongated body form typical of many crane flies in the family Limoniidae. Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal a delicate, long-legged appearance with wings that are often held folded over the abdomen when at rest.[1] The wings display a distinct venation pattern and often feature subtle, mottled or patterned markings across the wing membrane.[1]
The species was originally described as Polymoria pristina by Charles P. Alexander in 1924.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Austrolimnophila.
