This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Austrolimnophila lambi is a species of crane fly. Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset indicate that these insects possess a slender, elongated body typical of many limoniid crane flies.[1] They exhibit long, delicate legs and narrow, membranous wings that are often held outstretched or folded along the abdomen when at rest. The body coloration typically includes shades of brown or yellowish-brown, which may provide camouflage in their natural habitats.[1]
Austrolimnophila lambi was originally described by F.W. Edwards in 1923 under the name Limnophila lambi.[2] The species was published in the Transactions of the New Zealand Institute as part of a preliminary revision of the crane flies of New Zealand.
