This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Austrolimnophila cyatheti is a species of crane fly. Observations of specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal a slender, elongated body typical of the family Limoniidae, with long, delicate legs. The wings exhibit a distinct pattern of dark spots or markings against a lighter, often brownish or yellowish, wing membrane. The thorax is robust, and the antennae are relatively long and filiform.[1]
Austrolimnophila cyatheti was originally described by F.W. Edwards in 1923 as Limnophila cyatheti, as part of a preliminary revision of the crane flies of New Zealand.[2] It is currently an accepted species within the genus Austrolimnophila.
