This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Austrolimnophila chrysorrhoea exhibits characteristic wing morphology typical of the family Limoniidae. Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal wings with a distinct pattern of darkened, cloud-like spots or patches distributed across the membrane, particularly along the veins and cross-veins.[1] The wing venation is clearly defined, with a series of longitudinal veins connected by cross-veins, creating a series of cells across the wing surface.[1]
Austrolimnophila chrysorrhoea was originally described by F.W. Edwards in 1923 as Limnophila chrysorrhoea.[2] The species was published as part of a preliminary revision of the crane-flies of New Zealand.
