This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Austrocladius trichiatus is a species of non-biting midge within the family Chironomidae. Observations of preserved specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset indicate that, consistent with other members of the family, the species exhibits a slender, elongated body typical of dipterans in this group.[1] Due to the nature of the preserved material, specific diagnostic morphological characters such as wing venation or antennal structures are not clearly resolved in the available imagery.
Austrocladius trichiatus was described by Freeman in 1961.[2] The species is recognized as an accepted taxon within the genus Austrocladius.
