This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Australoconops vespoides exhibits morphological traits characteristic of the family Conopidae, often mimicking aculeate Hymenoptera. Observations from preserved specimens[1] reveal a slender, elongated body form. The abdomen is notably petiolate, narrowing significantly at the base, which contributes to its wasp-like appearance. The wings are typically clear or lightly infuscated, and the head features prominent, relatively large compound eyes.
Australoconops vespoides was described by M. A. Schneider in 2010 as part of a taxonomic revision of Australian Conopidae.[2]
