Based on examination of preserved specimens, Australoconops breviplatus exhibits the characteristic body form of the family Conopidae, which often mimics aculeate Hymenoptera. The specimen displays a slender, elongated abdomen and distinctively shaped wings. The coloration includes patterns of dark and lighter markings across the thorax and abdomen, typical of the genus. The head features prominent eyes and the characteristic conopid proboscis, which is often long and folded.[1]
Australoconops breviplatus is a species of fly in the family Conopidae. It was formally described by M. A. Schneider in 2010 as part of a taxonomic revision of Australian Conopidae.[2]
