This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Austalis resoluta exhibits the characteristic body form of a hoverfly (family Syrphidae).[1] The specimens display a robust, somewhat hairy thorax and abdomen. The abdomen features distinct transverse banding patterns, typical of many syrphids, which often mimic the appearance of aculeate Hymenoptera.[1]
Austalis resoluta has been documented visiting the flowers of Mischocarpus lachnocarpus (family Sapindaceae).[2]
The species was originally described by Francis Walker in 1858 as Eristalis resoluta.[3]
