This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Aulogastromyia anisodactyla is a small fly characteristic of the family Lauxaniidae. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the species exhibits a generally slender body form typical of many acalyptrate flies. The wings are often held in a characteristic position, and the body coloration is generally muted, often appearing in shades of brown or yellowish-brown, which may provide camouflage in its natural forest habitats.[1]
Aulogastromyia anisodactyla has been recorded in a variety of forest and meadow habitats, including oak-hornbeam forests (Tilio-Carpinetum), mixed coniferous forests (Pino-Quercetum), pine forests (Peucedano-Pinetum), as well as moist and wet meadows.[2] As is typical for members of the family Lauxaniidae, the larvae are saprophagous, developing in environments such as fallen tree leaves and wood mold.
