Aulagromyza similis is a small fly belonging to the family Agromyzidae. Based on examination of preserved museum specimens, the species exhibits typical agromyzid morphology, characterized by a compact body form, relatively large wings in proportion to the body, and a dark, often brownish or blackish, coloration of the thorax and abdomen.[1] The head is generally distinct with prominent eyes. Due to the nature of the preserved specimens, finer diagnostic features such as specific chaetotaxy (bristle patterns) or wing venation details are not readily resolved in the available imagery.[1]
Aulagromyza similis is a leaf-mining fly. It has been documented to interact with plants in the genus Knautia, specifically Knautia dipsacifolia and Knautia arvensis.[2]
