Aulagromyza populicola is a small, fly-like insect characteristic of the family Agromyzidae. Based on observations of specimens, the adult exhibits a compact body form typical of leaf-mining flies. The thorax and abdomen are generally dark in coloration, often appearing black or dark brown, with a slightly shiny or metallic luster. The wings are clear and membranous, with distinct venation patterns typical of the order Diptera. The legs are slender and often lighter in color than the body, ranging from yellowish to brownish. These morphological traits are consistent with specimens documented in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset.[1]
Aulagromyza populicola (Walker, 1853) is a leaf-mining dipteran species belonging to the family Agromyzidae.[2] The species is native to Europe and has been introduced to Canada, where it was first documented in the 1950s.[3] As a leaf-miner, the larvae feed within the tissues of their host plants, specifically species within the genus Populus.[3]
