Members of the genus Aulagromyza are small flies typical of the family Agromyzidae. Observations of specimens, such as Aulagromyza heringii, indicate that the imago is largely yellowish in coloration. Sexual dimorphism is present in the third antennal segment, which is bright yellow in males but appears inconspicuously darkened distally in females.[2] Examination of dataset imagery confirms the general dipteran body plan, with characteristic wing venation and thoracic structure consistent with the family.[1]
Aulagromyza is a genus of leaf-mining flies. Species such as Aulagromyza heringii are known to be monophagous, feeding on specific host plants like Fraxinus excelsior (ash).[2] The larvae create distinct blotch mines within the leaves of their host plants.[2]
These flies are subject to parasitism by various Hymenoptera. For instance, Lamprotatus crassipes (Pteromalidae) has been documented as a pupal endoparasitoid of A. heringii, where the parasitoid larva develops within the puparium of the fly.[2]
