Based on observations of museum specimens, members of the genus Aulacogaurax exhibit a small, fly-like body typical of the family Chloropidae.[1] The specimens display a distinct, somewhat elongated thorax and a rounded abdomen.[1] The wings are clear and extend beyond the posterior end of the abdomen, showing characteristic venation patterns consistent with the family.[1]
Aulacogaurax is a genus of flies within the family Chloropidae, first described by De Meyere in 1913.[2] As members of the Chloropidae, they are often referred to as frit flies or grass flies.
