This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Based on observations of specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, members of the genus Auchmeromyia are robust flies typical of the family Calliphoridae.[1] They exhibit a characteristic muscoid body form with a well-developed thorax and abdomen. The body is often covered in fine setae (hairs), and the coloration typically includes shades of brown or yellowish-brown, which may provide camouflage in their native environments. The wings are membranous and clear, with distinct venation patterns characteristic of the order Diptera.[1]
The genus Auchmeromyia is classified within the subfamily Auchmeromyiinae.[2] Some species within this genus, such as Auchmeromyia luteola, have been documented in biotic interactions, including associations with pathogens like Herpetomonas caulleryi.[3] The genus was formally described by Brauer and Bergenstamm in 1891.[4]
