This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Atylotus tingaureus is a species of horse fly within the family Tabanidae. Observations of specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal characteristic features of the genus, including a robust, hairy body typical of Atylotus species. The eyes are generally densely covered in fine hairs, a diagnostic trait for the genus. The overall coloration is often muted, with brownish or yellowish tones that provide camouflage in their natural habitats.[1]
Atylotus tingaureus was described by the entomologist Cornelius Becker Philip in 1936.[2] It was originally described under the basionym Tabanus tingaureus.
