Atylotus sublunaticornis exhibits the characteristic morphology of the genus Atylotus. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the species displays a robust, hairy body typical of many horseflies.[1] The compound eyes are prominent and, in many specimens, show a characteristic coloration and texture. The thorax and abdomen are covered in dense, fine setae, which contribute to a somewhat muted, brownish or yellowish-grey overall appearance.[1]
Atylotus sublunaticornis (Zetterstedt, 1842) is a recognized species within the family Tabanidae.[2] It has been documented as part of the horsefly fauna in the Yamalo-Nenets autonomous okrug (YNAO) of the Tyumen region, Russia.[3]
