This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Atylotus loewianus exhibits the general morphological characteristics typical of the genus Atylotus. Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset indicate that these flies possess a robust, hairy body, which is a common trait among members of this genus.[1] The compound eyes are prominent and, in many specimens, exhibit a characteristic yellowish or greenish hue, often with distinct patterns or lack of strong banding, which helps distinguish Atylotus from other tabanid genera.[1]
Atylotus loewianus (Villeneuve, 1920) is an accepted species within the family Tabanidae.[2] Research conducted on a farm in southern France has characterized this species as a "late" tabanid.[3] Its seasonal activity period in this region was observed to span from early July to late August, with peak abundance occurring in early August.[3]
