This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Atrochaetetes Cuif & Fischer, 1974 is an accepted taxon within the sponge lineage (Porifera) associated with the chaetetid framework; GBIF lists the taxon as accepted with authorship Cuif & Fischer, 1974.
A study of Triassic (Ladinian–Carnian) Wetterstein carbonates from Mt. Peca (Slovenia) reports Atrochaetetes cylindrica (Turnšek & Buser, 1989) as part of the sponge/heteretid component of a reef-building fossil assemblage from samples in the upper part of the carbonate package (Carnian; mainly Cordevol). The same study notes that dolomitization and recrystallization can hinder identification of reef fossils, sometimes leaving only outlines and microcrystalline margins; this limitation may affect taxonomic resolution within the chaetetid/heteretid component.
Specimen-image inspection for Atrochaetetes under this TreeOfLife-200M/GBIF path was not possible in this workspace because the GBIF-linked MNHN media endpoints returned access errors (HTTP 403) during image retrieval.
