This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Atriculicoides globosa is a species within the family Ceratopogonidae. Observations of fossil specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal characteristic features of these small flies. The specimens exhibit a compact, rounded body form, consistent with the specific epithet globosa. The wings are typically well-preserved in these fossils, showing the characteristic venation patterns of the family. Due to the nature of the fossilized material, fine details such as specific setal patterns or delicate antennal structures may be obscured, but the overall body proportions and wing morphology are discernible.[1]
Atriculicoides globosa was originally described by M. W. Boesel in 1937 under the name Lasiohelea globosa.[2] The species is currently accepted as Atriculicoides globosa (Boesel, 1937). The original description was published in the work "Insects and arachnids from Canadian amber."
