This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Based on observations of museum specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Atrichopogon pavidus exhibits the characteristic morphology of a small biting midge.[1] The specimens display a compact body structure typical of the family Ceratopogonidae, with relatively short, segmented antennae and delicate, membranous wings that extend beyond the abdomen. The coloration is generally muted, consistent with many species in the genus Atrichopogon.[1]
Atrichopogon pavidus (Winnertz, 1852) is a species of biting midge within the family Ceratopogonidae.[2] It was originally described by Johannes Winnertz in his 1852 work, Beitrag zur Kenntniss der Gattung Ceratopogon Meigen, under the basionym Ceratopogon pavidus.
