Atrichopogon oedemerarum is a species of biting midge within the family Ceratopogonidae. While specific morphological details are difficult to resolve from the available museum specimen images in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the specimens exhibit the general body plan characteristic of small nematoceran Diptera, including a compact thorax and delicate, membranous wings.[1]
Atrichopogon oedemerarum has been documented as a visitor to the inflorescences of the plant Arum cylindraceum (Araceae).[2] In studies of European Arum species, this midge was identified as part of the visitor assemblage, although it represented a minor component (approximately 6%) of the total ceratopogonid specimens collected.
The species was described by Ragnar Storå in 1939.[3] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Atrichopogon.
