Atrichopogon jejunus is a small dipteran insect. Observations of preserved specimens reveal a compact body structure typical of the family Ceratopogonidae. The specimens exhibit a dark, sclerotized exoskeleton and delicate, membranous wings that are folded over the abdomen. The head is relatively small in proportion to the thorax, with prominent compound eyes.[1]
Atrichopogon jejunus was described by Macfie in 1934. It is an accepted species within the genus Atrichopogon, which belongs to the family Ceratopogonidae (biting midges).[2]
