Atrichopogon harrisi is a small dipteran insect. Observations from preserved specimens indicate a compact body form typical of the family Ceratopogonidae. The specimens exhibit a dark, sclerotized exoskeleton with fine, sparse setation visible across the thorax and abdomen. The wings are relatively broad and clear, with venation patterns characteristic of the genus Atrichopogon.[1]
Atrichopogon harrisi Macfie, 1938, is a recognized species within the family Ceratopogonidae.[2] It is classified within the subgenus Atrichopogon (Psilokempia).[3] Taxonomic revisions of Neotropical species in this subgenus have provided detailed notes on the type material of A. harrisi.[3]
