This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, members of the genus Atrichobrunettia exhibit the characteristic moth-like appearance typical of the family Psychodidae.[1] They possess densely haired wings that are held in a roof-like position over the body when at rest. The wings are generally broad and rounded at the tips, with a distinct venation pattern visible through the dense vestiture of hairs. The body is also covered in fine, hair-like scales, contributing to their fuzzy, moth-like profile.[1]
Atrichobrunettia is a genus of moth flies within the family Psychodidae, established by Satchell in 1953.[2] The genus is classified within the subfamily Psychodinae and the tribe Mormiini.[3]
Species within this genus are known to occur in various regions, including Europe. For example, Atrichobrunettia (Mirousiella) graeca has been documented in countries such as Greece, Albania, the Czech Republic, Great Britain, Ireland, and Romania.[3] Some species are considered rare and may be of conservation interest in specific regions.[3]
