Atomosia mucida is a species of robber fly. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, individuals exhibit the characteristic robust, somewhat bristly body form typical of the family Asilidae.[1] The specimens display a dark, often blackish or brownish coloration on the thorax and abdomen, with visible pubescence or fine hairs covering parts of the body. The wings are typically clear or slightly tinted.
Atomosia mucida was described by the entomologist Carl Robert Osten-Sacken in 1887.[2] It is recognized as an accepted species within the genus Atomosia. The species is sometimes referred to by the common name "Yellow-horned Micropanther".
