Visual Description
The species Athyroglossa laevis is a member of the family Ephydridae. While specific morphological traits are difficult to resolve from available dataset imagery, the genus Athyroglossa is generally characterized by features typical of shore flies.[1]
Classification and History
Athyroglossa laevis was originally described by E. T. Cresson Jr. in 1918 under the basionym Ochtheroidea laevis.[2] The species is currently accepted within the genus Athyroglossa.
