This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Atarba verticalis is a member of the family Limoniidae, commonly known as limoniid crane flies. Observations of preserved specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal characteristic features of this group.[1] The specimens exhibit the slender, elongated body form typical of crane flies, with notably long, fragile-looking legs. The wings are relatively long and narrow, displaying a delicate venation pattern characteristic of the family. The body coloration appears generally muted, consistent with many species in the genus Atarba.[1]
Atarba verticalis was originally described by Charles Paul Alexander in 1929 as Ischnothrix verticalis.[2] It is currently accepted as a valid species within the genus Atarba.
