This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Atarba eluta exhibits the characteristic delicate, slender body form typical of many crane flies. Observations of specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal a wing structure characterized by clear, hyaline membranes with distinct, relatively sparse venation. The wing margins are fringed with fine, short hairs. The venation pattern is consistent with the family Limoniidae, showing specific branching arrangements in the radial and medial sectors that are diagnostic for the genus.[1]
Atarba eluta was originally described by F.W. Edwards in 1923 as Orolimnophila eluta in his revision of the crane flies of New Zealand.[2] It is currently accepted as a valid species within the genus Atarba.
