This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Based on observations of specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, members of the genus Atarba are slender-bodied flies typical of the family Limoniidae.[1] They exhibit long, delicate legs and narrow, elongated wings. The body coloration often includes patterns of yellow, brown, or black, which can be observed on the thorax and abdomen. The antennae are typically long and filiform.[1]
Atarba is a genus of crane flies within the family Limoniidae.[2] Historically, the genus was placed within the Limnophilinae (or Hexatominae), but recent classifications have placed it within the subfamily Chioneinae.[3]
Ecological interactions documented for the genus include observations of Atarba picticornis visiting the plant Microstegium vimineum.[4] Additionally, Atarba species have been recorded as hosts for mites of the genus Calyptostoma.[4]
