Atacta brasiliensis is a fly characterized by a robust body typical of the family Tachinidae. Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal a distinct appearance: the thorax features prominent longitudinal dark stripes against a lighter, greyish background. The compound eyes are large and reddish-brown. A notable feature is the abdomen, which exhibits a contrasting coloration, with a dark base and a distinct, bright orange or yellowish patch at the posterior end. The wings are clear and membranous, with visible venation.[1]
Atacta brasiliensis is a parasitic fly belonging to the subfamily Exoristinae and tribe Goniini. It has been documented as a parasitoid of the caterpillar Mocis latipes (Lepidoptera: Erebidae). These interactions have been recorded in pasture environments in the state of Alagoas, Northeast Brazil.[2]
