This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Based on examination of museum specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Asyndetus syntormoides exhibits the characteristic body form of the family Dolichopodidae.[1] The specimens display a compact, metallic-colored thorax and abdomen, typical of many members of the genus. The wings are clear with characteristic venation patterns, and the legs are slender, consistent with the general morphology of the family.[1]
Asyndetus syntormoides was described by W.M. Wheeler in 1899.[2] Recent taxonomic reviews have indicated that previous reports of this species in the West Indies were erroneous.[3]
