This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Asyndetus appendiculatus is a member of the family Dolichopodidae, commonly known as long-legged flies. Based on observations of specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the species exhibits the characteristic slender body form typical of the family.[1] The specimens display elongated legs and wings that extend beyond the abdomen. The body coloration is generally metallic or dark, consistent with many other members of the genus.[1]
Asyndetus appendiculatus (Loew, 1869) is a recognized species within the family Dolichopodidae.[2] Research conducted in the Ouargla region of the Northern Sahara, Algeria, has identified this species as a significant component of the local dipteran fauna.[3]
It has been described as a ubiquitous species within the study area, having been recorded across diverse habitats including lakes and palm groves.[3] In certain environments, such as the ksar palm grove, it was found to be the most abundant species, while it also maintained a notable presence within the Dolichopodidae family at other sampled wetland sites.[3] This study provided the first record of Asyndetus appendiculatus in Algeria.[3]
