Based on observations of preserved specimens, Asynapta saliciperda exhibits the characteristic delicate, slender morphology typical of the family Cecidomyiidae. The specimens display long, thin legs and elongated antennae, which are diagnostic features for many gall midges. The body is generally fragile in appearance, with a light to medium brown coloration observed in the preserved state.[1]
Asynapta saliciperda was described by E.P. Felt in 1908. The species is recognized as an accepted name within the genus Asynapta.[2]
