This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Asynapta magdalini is a species of gall midge within the family Cecidomyiidae. It was described by Samuel Panelius in 1965 as part of his revision of the European gall midges of the subfamily Porricondylinae.[2]
Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, specimens of Asynapta magdalini exhibit the characteristic delicate, slender morphology typical of many cecidomyiids.[1] The body is elongated with long, thread-like antennae and relatively long, slender legs. The wings are typically clear and held over the abdomen when at rest. Due to the small size of these insects, finer morphological details such as specific wing venation patterns or antennal segment structures are not clearly resolved in the available imagery.[1]
