This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Based on observations of preserved specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Astomella jardinei exhibits the characteristic body form of the family Acroceridae, often described as hump-backed.[1] The specimens display a small head relative to the large, globose thorax. The abdomen is also notably rounded and bulbous, a typical feature for members of this family. The wings are generally clear or hyaline, with reduced venation patterns characteristic of the group.[1]
Astomella jardinei was originally described by E. Brunetti in 1926 under the name Pialea jardinei.[2] It is currently classified as an accepted species within the genus Astomella in the family Acroceridae.
