Astochia lancealata is a species of robber fly (family Asilidae). Observations of specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal characteristic features of the genus, including a slender, elongated body typical of many asilids. The thorax is robust, and the wings are long and narrow, often extending beyond the tip of the abdomen. The legs are long and spiny, adapted for capturing prey in flight. The head features large, prominent compound eyes that occupy much of the head surface, providing a wide field of view for hunting.[1]
Astochia lancealata was described by A.G. Scarbrough in 2004.[2] The species is recognized as an accepted name within the genus Astochia.
