This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Based on observations of preserved specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Asteia nudiseta is a small fly characteristic of the family Asteiidae.[1] The specimens exhibit a slender body form typical of the genus. Visible morphological traits include a relatively sparse covering of macrosetae on the thorax and abdomen, consistent with the specific epithet "nudiseta," which implies a reduced or "naked" setal arrangement compared to related species. The wings are clear and appear relatively long in proportion to the body length.
Asteia nudiseta was described by Curtis W. Sabrosky in 1947.[2] The original description was published in the Proceedings of the Hawaiian Entomological Society, noting its presence in Hawaii.
