Asteia atrifacies is a small fly within the family Asteiidae. Based on examination of museum specimen images, the species exhibits a generally slender body form typical of the genus. The head and thorax show distinct coloration patterns, with dark, often blackish, facial markings that are characteristic of the species name atrifacies (meaning "black face"). The wings are relatively large in proportion to the body, with clear venation patterns consistent with the Asteiidae family.[1]
