Aspistes berolinensis is a small fly characteristic of the family Scatopsidae. Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset indicate that the species possesses a compact, dark-colored body typical of the genus.[1] The body structure is robust, and the wings are generally clear or slightly tinted, held over the abdomen when at rest.[1]
Aspistes berolinensis is a psammophilous (sand-loving) species.[2] It has been documented inhabiting glacial sand deposits, such as those found in the Hlučínsko region of the Czech Republic, where it frequents loose sand patches with sparse vegetation, including Calamagrostis epigejos. The species is considered to be widespread throughout the Western Palaearctic.
